What
is the Breakfast Club? The Breakfast Club is one of many functioning groups at St. Kieran Parish. Primarily it serves as a meeting time for families and friends to gather, relax, and enjoy a wonderful fresh cooked buffet. The buffet is usually served on the third Sunday of each month, starting in September and ending in May with Mother’s Day. It’s a time for out parishioners to gather together as a community, the “St. Kieran Parish Community.” How
did the Breakfast Club start? The
Breakfast Club was started many years ago by a handful of parishioners cooking
pancakes and eggs as a breakfast group. The
group has grown to 40 members serving over 600 people on Mother’s Day.
People ask, “How big is Breakfast Club going to get?”
The answer, “Only God knows!” Parish
groups raise money for a purpose. What
purpose does the Breakfast Club serve? The
Breakfast Club serves the Building Fund. All
funds raised are turned over to the Building Fund, to be used for the repairs
and maintenance of our parish buildings, grounds, and parking lots. The Club may play a more pivotal role in the raising of funds
to aid in the Millennium Campaign, with the expansions and improvements of the
kitchen, serving halls, and parking lots. The
Breakfast Club is the only parish group directly serving the Building Fund,
beside the monthly envelopes.
I
have time in the morning on the third Sunday of the month. Could
I join the Breakfast Club? You
sure can! Actually,
serving hundreds of hungry parishioners is an easy task when you divide the work
into functions. Your duties might
be in one of the following areas: ·
Kitchen and omelet bar cook ·
Other food preparation ·
Hall table and chair set-up and take down ·
Greeting in Church lobby ·
Dessert table maintenance ·
Coffee, milk, and juice serving ·
Cleaning tables ·
Serving line duty ·
Wash and cleanup ·
Other miscellaneous duties Your
duties may vary from month to month. We
may be short of helpers in a certain area and you could lend a hand.
The
Breakfast Club is a great group to join. You
can really make a difference. When
you start at 7:00 a.m. and finish at 12:00 noon, when you help to serve hundreds
of hungry people, when you start with an empty hall and finish with an empty
hall, and when you are part of raising a large contribution to the Building
Fund, Call:
