Leadership is a word that has been thrown around a lot lately especially during the election. Leadership is one of those special qualities that is easy to recognize, but so hard to actually define. At SKS we mentor a student Leadership Program that gives students the opportunity to lead, model and be accountable for success. SKS requires the students to be exemplary academically, socially responsible and welcoming and above reproach modeling positive behavior. Our students as early as last week built and ran a haunted house, ran the children’s games and helped clean up and take down the gym for the parish Halloween Party. The Leadership Committee also collected money for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society and sponsored Red Ribbon Week (anti-drug awareness). They composed the announcement, collected the money and volunteered so each activity was completed well. That is the very definition of leadership, and one of which the parish should be proud.
Personal Note: Sincere thanks to the Chicago Heights Police Department for sending three representatives to speak at our Red Ribbon student assembly on drug awareness. Also, great job done by the faculty, PTN and students working the Halloween Party.
